Java Web Start Macbook
This fixed the issue for me:
Java Web Start enables the latest Java applications to be run using a single mouse click (yes, zero config!) on your Mac box thru the JNLP specification (using XML & HTTP). Technology is great but. Oracle Java SE jdk-7u9-macosx-x64.dmg) Output of /usr/bin/java -version is: Java SE runtime environment 1.7.009-b05. The java.com website signals on the installed version web page): Version7 Update 9 installed. The Java Control Panel also says: 'Version 7 Update 9 installed' The Java Control Panel offers no choice to 'enable the Java web start'. Java Web Start differs from Java Applets by running java independently of the browser. When you start the application from the browser it downloads a file called frmsrvlet.jnlp to the default download directory setup for the browser. It will then run Java directly from this file rather than through the browser. To run Java Web Start-based application after the release of Java 11, the company Karakun AG has released the open source tool OpenWebStart, based on IcedTea-Web. The tool includes all the functionality of IcedTea-Web and adds extended features, such as native installers for Mac OS, Windows, and Linux.

Java Web Start For Mac Os X
In the comments to the linked article someone suggests to comment out the node in stead of deleting it. Probably safer (it's explained further down how to do that). Anyway I already spent to much time on this nonsense, deleted it and it worked, so I'm happy.
